RRMA Student Council

The Student Council is built up of dedicated, passionate individuals from across all year groups.

Weekly meetings are held in the library and are facilitated by the Librarian.  Each meeting follows a predetermined agenda which may cover topical discussions, student council roles and responsibilities, forthcoming events or the opportunity to express any concerns.  Once a month the students meet with the Headteacher to discuss any ideas that they might have. Students also take part in regular workshops delivered by a youth support worker from the Carlisle Youth Council team.

Everything the Student Council do is fuelled by the Academy’s core values of ambition, confidence, creativity, respect, enthusiasm and determination.  The students want the best possible outcomes for themselves and their peers and always strive to lead by example. The council members show respect for students and staff alike and act on the students’ behalf, ensuring that their voice is heard within the Academy.

Led by our Head Boy and Head Girl, the Student Council have been instrumental in the recruitment of numerous members of staff, have represented the Academy in many meetings and visits and have raised awareness on issues such as bullying, mental health and support for the LGBT+ community.
