We believe that these actions allow everyone who learns and works with us to feel safe, secure and valued. These expectations form the basis of our ‘Code of Conduct’ which all students agree to when they accept a place with us.

In addition to our actions we believe that we establish our sense of belonging by wearing our uniform with pride. The Richard Rose Morton Academy uniform is smart but not expensive, and encourages mature and sensible conduct. We expect parents/carers to support us in ensuring that their child wears the correct uniform and brings the correct equipment every day.

The Academy’s policy on behaviour has zero tolerance towards anti-social behaviour, truanting, bullying or any form of discrimination. Our first action is to always attempt to educate the student when things go wrong, rather than take punitive measures.

We expect our students to attend every day on time. Attendance is monitored every hour of the day and our electronic messaging service enables us to get messages to parents and carers quickly if a student is absent. Our Attendance Officer who works in partnership with the Education Welfare Service deals with problematic attendance issues.

In cases where the Academy is concerned that a student is being neglected, or is subject to some form of physical or emotional harm, then it will follow Cumbria County Council’s Safeguarding Procedures and contact Children’s Services. Parents will be informed.

All students have a right to be happy at school and free from any form of intimidation. We have a zero tolerance approach towards anti-social behaviour, bullying or any form of discrimination. Close monitoring of students enables us to rapidly identify any case of bullying, and we encourage our students to tell us if they are being bullied. We train our team Leaders to help students in resolving relationship difficulties and to mediate in disagreements.
